So, there I was this afternoon, in my local fabric shop, buying some bits for a future project (which hopefully you will see in a couple of months' time). "Ooh", said the lady serving me, "I recognize that pattern".
I was wearing The Feedsack Dress, aka Vogue 2787, and it made me quite unreasonably happy that someone could identify it!
At an SCA event, my family and I had to go off-site for some groceries and wound up at a Walmart. We were all in garb, but my sister's was kimono. A worker taking a smoke break out front gushed over my sister's kimono, asked and was allowed to investigate the sleeves, and said "I work in fabrics! Come talk to me!"
ReplyDeleteThat's the closest I've come to the awesomeness of your story. :-P What fun that she recognized the pattern!
Thank you!
DeleteLove that pattern! Almost made it for a 1940s challenge last year. Now that you've brought it up, I feel the need to make it again. Love your blog! It's why I nominated you for a blogger award. www.theperfecttouchvictorian.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanette. Just to warn you, the pattern makes up a fair bit looser than the envelope illustration. I had to tweak it a bit to get a look I'm happy with. Whatever you do, don't use an invisible zip at the side!
DeleteHow fun that it was recognized!
