I didn't realise that there was still any call for fashion illustration at all; I assumed that it would be long gone by now.

Yes it is my Mabs magazine. Unfortunately it doesn't have the pattern with it.

By the way, the jumper in the photograph is knitted with a crocheted yoke - I must admit I chose that particular example because I thought you might be interested!
xx

Black Tuliphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00399472362773743743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4102653746369917661.post-49038486788191367872017-04-20T12:06:20.461+01:002017-04-20T12:06:20.461+01:00Oh, and I forgot to ask, is that your Mabs magazin...Oh, and I forgot to ask, is that your Mabs magazine? I have a Mabs pattern and would love to find more. The one I have is so straightforward but the final garment looks really complicated. If all their patterns were like that then I'd be a big fan! xxAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08106899252606137869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4102653746369917661.post-2174148540332473252017-04-20T12:01:00.857+01:002017-04-20T12:01:00.857+01:00I love this post! The illustrations alone are truly wonderful but I love all the advice from Mr Hymers.

I worked as a fashion illustrator for a New York based knit fabric company for a while and loved doing all my illustrations. I was pretty much left to my own devices, just given examples of the fabrics and a theme title they were based around, then i could just go to town with my work. I used a similar technique described by Mr Hymers, using a paint wash and then pens or pencils to define everything.

I also nearly ended up working for Debenhams doing fashion illustration but their wages were ridiculously low, so I turned it down. It's a dying art now unfortunately. Photography, Photoshop and airbrushing are what it's all about nowadays. xx Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08106899252606137869noreply@blogger.com
